IKEA Batu Kawan first opened its doors on 14 March 2019. Since then, it has remained committed to sustainability and making a positive impact in the community, especially with its eco-friendly and waste reduction practices. As it launches its IKEA Blueprint 2025, Penang Monthly speaks to Store Manager, Takeshi Murai.

Takeshi started his journey with IKEA in 2008 as a storekeeper in Osaka, Japan before moving on to become Store Manager at IKEA Tachikawa in Tokyo. After a stint in Europe as Market Manager in Sweden and Finland, Takeshi returned to the East to take charge of Malaysia’s northern state stores and collection points seven months ago.
