Education cannot take place in a vacuum, and the knowledge and skills acquired through it cannot be independent of the jobs that one can reasonably expect to be out there when the studying is done. Practical education must create lateral and creative thinkers who are culturally sensitive and who can integrate information, knowledge and experience.
In this day and age, education is a requirement for success. Gone are the days when informal apprenticeship programmes were the route of choice for school-leavers.
