Before the Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade passed by the British Parliament on March 25, 1807 came into effect the following year, as many as 2,532,300 Africans had reportedly been carried across the Atlantic to America to be sold as slaves. This amounted to 41% (!) of the total transport of individuals.
