WORKSHOPS
Experience the colourful world of Batik, a complex textile art that is deeply rooted in Malaysia’s cultural heritage. Join the USM School of the Arts’ Batik workshop under the guidance of Puan Rosnah bt Ishak as you discover the traditional technique of wax-resist dyeing and create your own one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

CULTURE
The Penang Yosakoi Parade 2023 will feature culture, dance and charity. Reminiscent of the Buenos Aires Carnival or New Orleans’ Mardi Gras, where dancers, floats and bands parade down the street in an all-out celebration street party, it will be a fun day out for family and friends, so mark your calendar!

Persatuan Penjana Kreatif Seni Teater Pulau Pinang (KREATER) will be organising "Festival Teater Tradisional Utara@Georgetown 2023" (FTTU 2023). This inaugural event will feature five main traditional theatre performances from three states in northern Malaysia, including jikey (Perlis); wayang kulit gedek and mek mulung (Kedah); Boria and Teochew opera (Penang). Visitors can also expect cultural competitions, games and more.

PETS
The Penang Pet Lovers Fiesta presents a range of fantastic activities and contests spanning two days, including the “Beautiful Cat Competition” featuring both short-haired and long-haired feline breeds. Over 150 cats from across Malaysia will participate. The event also features a cat cage decoration contest, a fashion show and various other animal-related programmes.

PENANG HARMONY CELEBRATION
Penang Harmony Corporation (HARMONICO) will be organising “Penang Harmony Celebration 2023—Fostering Harmony in Diversity” in conjunction with National Day, Malaysia Day and the International Day of Peace. The campaign is aimed at celebrating harmony as the foundation of peace in our nation ever since its formation and involves various programmes that showcase Penang’s cultural and religious diversity, such as meditation workshops, interfaith dialogues, art exhibitions, etc.
