IN 2019, 66.2% of Malaysian households owned either a motorcycle or a scooter (Table 1), with their ownerships in rural areas (76.0%) being higher than in urban locales (63.7%). However, despite its popularity as the second most used motor vehicle, motorcycle ownerships saw a slight drop from 67.2% in 2016 to 66.2% in 2019 (Table 1).Interestingly, motorcycle ownerships are higher in less developed states, with the exception of Sabah.
