Jit Sin High School Back2School Charity Carnival awaits you this June! Zumba early in the morning, and then munch the day away sampling delicious food from the food trucks. There is also a fun fair and exhibitions: proceeds will go to various charities.

Charity

Touching Hearts with Music is a charity concert in aid of the St. Xavier’s Marching Band and the school’s building fund. The three-hour programme, organised by the Parent-Teacher Association in collaboration with Kwong Wah Yit Poh, aims to raise funds for the construction of a three-storey building at Lebuh Farquhar, a school hall at St Xavier's Branch School in Pulau Tikus as well as to buy equipment for the school’s Corps of Pipes and Drums.

Tax deduction letters will be issued for any contributions above RM1,000.

Yoga

Happython was created to break the misconception that yoga is unsuitable for people with no experience or who don't exercise regularly. Yoga can be learned by anyone aged eight and above, so bring your restless kids and your parents along for a happy yoga time!

Workshop

If you have children aged six and above who you want to engage in science, bring them over to the Penang Science Cluster Tinker Weekend! This event aims to promote and create a culture of tinkering through experience with 20 hands-on activities. Admission is free so bring your little Albert Einsteins and Marie Curies!

The king of fruits is back in season! Check out award-winning durians such as Ang Hae, D16, Ang Jin, and Ang Bak at the Penang Durian Festival. Teach your visitors how to cool off your body after a hearty durian meal by drinking water out of durian shells. This is definitely a gastronomic feast for durian lovers.

Theatre

La fille du regiment (The Daughter of the Regiment) is an opera comique in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti, set to a French libretto by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges and Jean-Francois Bayard. The cast includes Jane Soong as Marie, Yap Jin Hin as Tonio, Shawn Liew as Sergeant Sulpice and Regina Neoh as the Marquise of Berkenfield; along with the Kuala Lumpur City Opera Chorus and KL City Opera Orchestra Ensemble. Conducted by Juan Montoya, stage direction by Amelia Tan and Lim Jae Sern as concert master.

Betrayal is a story revolving around a love triangle between Emma, her husband Robert and his best friend Jerry. One day after a party, Jerry confesses his love for Emma and the two begin an affair that will continue for years. Unbeknownst to Emma, Robert has caught wind of the affair but remains quiet. Who is leading who on and who is actually betraying whom? The sterling cast includes Stephanie Van Driesen, Omar Ali, Razif Hashim and Jad Hidhir.

Run

Penang Run is back with three categories: half marathon, 10km run and the fun run. Run along the historic Esplanade and take in the sights along Gurney Drive. This run aims to promote Penang as a preferred state for runners and to create a mentally and physically fit community. Expect T-shirts, a lucky draw, refreshments, finisher medals and certificates. Registration deadline is June 16.
