Agreement for underground tunnel project inked
The proposed Penang-Butterworth sea tunnel is on its way to becoming reality with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng signing a principal agreement with Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd (Consortium Zenith) jointly with China Railway Construction Corporation International (CRCC) and Beijing Urban Construction Group.
The RM6.3bil project will create a third access point between Gurney Drive and Bagan Ajam which is 6.5km long. According to Lim, Consortium Zenith will now undertake the feasibility studies and detailed design works (FSDD) and the environmental impact assessment (EIA) to ensure the project meets requirements.
