Placing heritage on the map


When George Town was listed as a World Heritage Site (WHS) on July 7, 2008 (together with Malacca), the city’s profile as an international cultural tourism destination rose instantly. Penang-based Areca Books created a detailed new map of George Town that provides visitors and locals with good and accurate information on the WHS to enrich their experience of the historic city.

Encouraging local businesses

Aside from publicising heritage attractions and cultural organisations, Areca has gone a step further – it supports selected local businesses by providing free listings.
