On October 20, 2012, the Penang Institute, with the cooperation of co-organisers Think City and Universiti Sains Malaysia, had the honour of organising a public lecture by UN special adviser and progenitor of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Prof Jeffrey Sachs, a world-renowned economist and sustainable development advocate. The topic discussed was on “The new era of sustainable development”.
He began by enlightening the audience on how sustainable development requires three fundamental values: economic prosperity, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.
