GOING GREEN IS no longer simply a buzzword, nor is it a passing fad. This is becoming obvious to more and more people. In this decade alone, many have come to realise that global warming and climate change are a stark reality and unavoidable phenomena due to anthropogenic activities. With growing awareness and education, many have chosen to transform their societies into green communities.
Penang itself can boast of such an effort by committed individuals in a residential community. This is Taman Desa Damai, a Bukit Mertajam community made up largely of terrace houses with six blocks of walk-up flats (250 units) and some shop lots.
