Penang gears up to host the inaugural Tropfest South East Asia, and many creative makers of short films in the region will finally get the recognition they deserve.
What started out 20 years ago as an informal short film festival for friends in the Tropicana cafe in Sydney, Australia is now the largest short film festival in the world. Founded and directed by John Polson, an award-winning actor and director, Tropfest’s overwhelming success has transformed the festival into a worldwide iconic cultural event.
Tropfest now takes place in Australia, New Zealand, Abu Dhabi and Europe, and for the first time ever, it will hit South-East Asia in 2014 where it will be hosted here in Penang.
