Scenes involving characters having afternoon tea and nibbling on crumpets – and more often than not scheming away – are frequently seen in English literature, such as Jane Austen’s Persuasion and popular period drama TV series Downton Abbey. So set your imagination wild and at the same time enjoy a delightful Afternoon Tea at The Royale Bintang Penang for only RM25+.

Begin with a selection of tea sandwiches, baked warm scones and cakes, with choices ranging from smoked salmon sandwich to fruit tartlet and chocolate éclair. Price is subject to six per cent government tax.

The boats, with their dragon heads and tails, signify unity; the dragon is said to be a combination of other animals, with the head of an ox, antlers of a deer, mane of a horse, body and scales of a snake, claws of an eagle and tail of a fish.

Organised by the Penang State Tourism Development and Culture, the Penang Pesta Dragon Boat Race will host 40 teams from all over the globe, including Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, the US and Singapore.
