Let’s become pedestrians again

There has been a tremendous increase in the use of motor vehicles, especially private cars, on the roads on Penang Island in the last few years. This rapid increase has been confirmed by Penang state executive councillor Chow Kon Yeow. The increase from 2002 to 2012 was 120%.

As a result, traffic congestions are getting frequent. The state government is fully aware of this and has taken steps to not only construct more roads and highways but also prepare plans for more.

The introduction of public buses by Rapid Penang in 2008 has been useful.
