View from the trail.
Most hikes in Penang are physically demanding, but there’s one that’s perfect for both novices and fanatics.
The first challenge of the trail was finding it. For those in the know, Penang’s Youth Park is accessible from Jalan Utama, just before the junction to Jalan Kebun Bunga.
There is plenty of parking outside the front entrance, and from there, we kept to the path on the right hand side of the park and soon came to the mini funicular train model, which was so small it was quite difficult to spot. Behind it we saw steps and took those, past the toilets… and we were on to the trail proper.
The path has been newly signposted, with arrows pointing to Rest Stops Three and Five, so it was easy to follow.
