Over a Century of Quality
Founded in 1856, Ghee Hiang is a heritage brand name which originated from China in the late Qing Dynasty. “We initially started off with traditional confectionaries,” says Ch’ng Huck Theng, Ghee Hiang Manufacturing’s seventh-generation director. “Then, we brought in sesame seed oil in the 1930s.” Despite facing uncertainties during outbreaks of wars and riots, it was determination that got them through. “Those days were indeed tough due to the shortage of supplies, but that didn’t stop our savvy forefathers.”
