MYWriters Penang is looking for submissions for its annual Nutmag chapbook! The theme this year is Lost. Writers must be based in or from Penang. English and Bahasa Malaysia are accepted. The maximum word count for fiction and creative nonfiction is 2,000 words, while the maximum length for poetry is 40 lines. You may submit your best works, but only one piece will be selected per writer. Token payment will be made for all accepted works. 


Hari Gig Kebangsaan is an initiative by venue providers in Malaysia to support the local independent music scene by putting together a show on the same date, nationwide! To support the idea and the community, Soundmaker Studio in Penang is hosting a gig specially dedicated to this cause. Catch home-grown indie groups Warnabumi, Satyagraha, Slick Z, Mathclass and Buddha Beat live in performance. Supported by PENJANA, the event is limited to 30 pax to maintain physical distancing.

George Town Festival 2021 is inviting local and international tech-savvy artists, designers and creative geniuses who can connect viewers to the city’s diverse cultural and historical landscapes to submit their portfolio for its virtual residency programme. Each applicant may choose to participate in the programme as an individual or in a group. Only six applicants will be selected. Each participant / group will be awarded a RM1,000 stipend.
