The annual No two shows are ever the same when the cast of Penang Players Improv Club takes the stage to deliver hilarious interactive comedy improvised on the spot! No scripts, no lines – just quick-witted comedy performed at the drop of a hat!



On this Tamil New Year, look out for Pongal Celebrations taking place in the early hours at Hindu temples around Penang where you can see sweet rice being cooked in new mud pots over an outdoor fireplace. Pongal means “overflowing”, and signifies abundance and prosperity.

The ninth day of Chinese New Year, also known as “Ti Kong Seh” (“Jade Emperor God's birthday”) in Hokkien, is celebrated by the Hokkien clan to commemorate their forefathers' escape in ancient China. Expect the magnificent annual parade along Chew Jetty. Fireworks will be lit at the stroke of midnight.

Ring in the Year of the Rat with a blaze of colour and excitement! The Penang Chinese New Year Celebration (Miaohui) is set to take over ten diverse streets in the heritage precinct of George Town, bringing with it numerous cultural booths, exhibitions and interactive workshops.



A crowd-puller every Lunar New Year, the stately Kek Lok Si Temple will be illuminated once again with more than 10,000 light displays, attracting devotees and tourists to bask in the festive atmosphere.
