Join in the birthday celebration of the Cheng Chooi Chor Soo Kong, deity of the Snake Temple. The “Fire Watching” ceremony is a traditional ceremony to predict the economy outlook of Penang. A special prayer is also conducted to commemorate the deity’s birthday.

The ceremony is an annual event that attracts dedicated local and foreign devotees. Visitors will also be entertained by various cultural dances, food stalls, exhibitions and exciting performances.

The ninth day of Chinese New Year, also known as “Ti Kong Seh” (“Jade Emperor God's birthday”) in Hokkien, is celebrated by the Hokkien clan to commemorate their forefathers’ escape in ancient China. Expect the annual magnificent parade along Chew Jetty. Fireworks will be lit at the stroke of midnight.
