The dragon emblem used in the dragon boat race signifies unity. This is because the dragon is said to be a combination of other animals in the Chinese zodiac: the head of an ox, the antlers of a deer, the mane of a horse, the body and scales of a snake, the claws of an eagle and the tail of a fish. Organised by the Penang State Tourism Development and Culture, the Penang Pesta Dragon Boat Race will host teams from Hong Kong, Taipei, the US, Singapore and more.
Bring your family and experience the oriental masquerade of Chingay at the Penang Pesta Chingay Parade. The Chingay and Lion Dance troupe members will display their skills in balancing on stilt poles during this yearly street parade. Expect giant colourful flags and heavily adorned floats, lion and dragon dance performances, as well as a procession of decorative trishaws. Admission is free.
A Christmas Celebration of Early Music, presented by Pro Musica, is a concert featuring Allesandro Scarlatti's Cantata Pastorale, "Oh di Betlemme altera" as well as works by J.S. Bach, G.P. Telemann, Jean-Baptiste Lully and other celebrated composers.
Kota Kelip Kelip is a play about two best friends, Saufy and Azam, who used to stay at an orphanage known as Rumah Seri Muda. After a long time, they meet again and reminisce about the good times that they spent together at the orphanage.
Kota Kelip Kelip is performed by ten children from three orphanages. Sponsors or donations are welcomed.
