Symposium

The Penang Green Council invites you to the Symposium on Sustainable Penang, titled “Can Penang be Made Sustainable by 2030?” The symposium fosters a multi-stakeholder discussion, which includes governmental agencies, academicians, NGOs, local communities and the private sector to identify current and future environmental challenges in Penang to strengthen the state’s environmental sustainability.

Charity

In conjunction with International Women’s Day, the Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) and Penang Island City Council will be organising Fun Run with Shades in support of domestic violence survivors and WCC’s work. There will be other family activities such as mural painting, interactive games, dance performances and fun activities for children. The deadline for registration is January 15.


Learning

Tech Dome Penang, in collaboration with Whytehouse Education Group, presents the Impactful Parenting Series: The Science of Early Childhood Education & Development, a three-part series of one-day talks and workshops throughout 2018 that will bring together leading experts and practitioners in early childhood education. The symposium will help to enlighten and encourage parents to sustain and nourish their children in their formative years.

Theatre

Music Box recounts a teenage girl’s experience with romance, friendship and family. Qin Shuang Shuang, portrayed by Jessie Chung, is a young woman whose mother disappeared during her childhood. Faced with the conflicts of family, friends and lovers, what kind of decisions will Shuang Shuang make? Music Box is a gripping story that will strike and sensitise the audience’s soul, allowing them to appreciate the unpredictability of affection through the laughter and tears of the story.

Festival

Bop your head and tap your feet to the music at the Penang International Busker Festival! The two-day festival will showcase buskers from 12 different countries. Part of the street will also be filled with amusing Busk Stop activities, cool street installations, artisan market as well as grab-and-go snack food!

Expo

The Penang International Halal Expo and Conference 2018 promises to be an event not to be missed for international and domestic halal players from across the regions of South-East Asia, West Asia and Europe seeking to expand business horizons and showcase some of the best halal products and services, discover emerging trends, and network with potential clients in the industry.


Health

The Georgetown Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a non-profit organisation that provides first aid services to the community, will be organising a basic occupational first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification programme. Participants who pass the exam will be issued a certificate of competency, which is valid for three years.
