Food Fair

The annual St. Nicholas’ Home Carnival is back again to raise funds for the blind and the visually impaired. St. Nicholas’ Home provides education, training and employment opportunities to empower blind and visually impaired persons to fully participate in society. Expect to tuck into great food with family and friends!


Environment

If you are environmentally conscious and you have invested in a sound food waste management system or rainwater harvesting system, get your green incentive from the Penang state government today! The Penang Green Council (PGC) is offering the Food Waste Management incentive for hotels and factories with established food waste management systems, while the Rainwater Harvesting incentive is offered to commercial and residential building owners with installed rainwater harvesting systems.

For the Food Waste Management incentive, the first 10 successful qualified applicants for 2017 with completed application forms and attached supporting documents will receive RM1,000 in incentives. Application period is from May 1-September 30, 2017.

For the Rainwater Harvesting incentive, the first 20 successful applicants for 2017 with completed application forms and supporting documents will receive an incentive of RM500. Application closes on December 31, 2017. Incentives are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.


Concert

Prepare to be mesmerised by ethereal sounds with Penang Philharmonic Orchestra's Northern Lights, with Chan Tze Law as conductor and Carolyn Lo as pianist. In the programme are Hannes Alfvén's Swedish Rhapsody No. 1, Op. 19, Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16 and Jean Sibelius's Symphony No. 1 in E minor, Op. 39.


Health

September is World Alzheimer's month. The Penang Dementia Association is organising Dementia Awareness Day to raise public awareness with a series of educational talks, as well as activities such as arts and crafts, yoga for older persons, and more. So mark your calendar and join us. Admission is free!

Theatre

Follow one man’s journey in The Storyteller as he confronts the unspoken truth that had shaped the lives of his family. As the monologue unfolds, we learn through the lens of each family member the kind of power that the trauma has had over their emotional and psychological wellbeing.

Theatre

In A Complete Woman, a mother writes to her daughter on the eve of her marriage, offering timely advice and sharing her own experiences of marriage and childbirth. The monologue uses a range of Chinese dialects to animate the characters that inhabit the mother’s universe as she manoeuvres the complex network of opinions, tradition and conscience while making some important choices in life.

Run
