Penang World Music Festival

George Town Festival 2013

The George Town Festival (GTF) is calling for project proposals and ideas. The organisers are looking for talent from all over the country to propose ideas on shows, dance pieces, exhibitions or workshops. GTF 2013 proposal forms are available at www.georgetownfestival.com and the deadline is on February 15.

Organisers are also inviting creative students to design GTF merchandise, giving them a chance to have their designs out there or maybe even a start for a business. They are also looking for photographers to submit their portfolios and stand a chance to be the official photographer(s) for GTF 2013.

Tropfest South-East Asia 2013

Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, will make its South-East Asian debut in Penang this year. Tropfest is free and comprises three major components:

The Short-Film competition is open to all residents of South-East Asia and entries will be accepted from February 1 to July 31. Finalists will be selected in August.

Next is the Film Symposium which will be held from August 30-31 and will comprise lectures, conversations and workshops presented by leading members of the industry both regionally and internationally.

The festival will close with a screening of all the films selected as well as live music.
