Just for Jazz

Music is an avenue to express oneself, and the passionate heady sounds of jazz allow both performer and listener to become intimately enraptured.

It is this intimacy that marks the Penang Island Jazz Festival (PIJF) apart from other music festivals in the country. Since its inception in 2004, the four-day festival, which is held annually at the Bayview Beach Resort, has brought together world-class jazz musicians and local talents, becoming a huge annual “family” gathering of sorts for the many regulars to the festival. According to festival organiser Paul Augustin, they do it “just for the love of it.”
