Back for the fifth time, the Penang Yosakoi Parade 2018 will be a venue for culture, dance and charity. Dancers, floats and bands will parade down the street in an all-out celebration street party. This year’s highlights include Tokyo Olympic Games Skateboarding Jam, Hanagasa Dance, free omochi tasting and the chance to experience the tradition of mochitsuki, the pounding of rice to make mochi!

With 30km, 50km and 100km running trails, the Penang Eco 100 ultra trail event will test your endurance. Run through palm oil, rubber and pineapple plantations; quaint Malay and Chinese villages; Indian temples; paddy fields; and the challenging Seraya, Mengkuang and Tokun hills – truly sights to behold. Registration closing date is March 31.

Shop and eat to your heart’s content for a good cause at the We Care Charity Food Fair 2018. The fundraising food fair aims to raise RM120,000 in aid of Peace and Harmony Home, SJKC Tar Thong and Penang Community Care.

Labia binti Labu loves toughlooking policemen. Sadly, it’s not the other way around. Bryan, also known as Double Entrende, leads a double life: first, as a happy man; and the second, being fabulous! Peter, also known as Caroline Tan Sik Nee, is your aunt’s or your mother’s or your grandmother’s best friend, or any other female you know who likes Laura Ashley prints and tea parties. Men in Heels is an outrageously funny poignant look at the world of drag through the eyes of these three men.

The explosive duo called Gamarjobat, made up of Ketch! and HIRO-PON, are back to blow audiences away with their furious motions of vaudevillian silent comedy.

The Gamarjobat team have honed their craft as street performers. Dressed to impress in sharp suits, sunglasses and sporting outrageous brightly coloured mohawks, these “masters of mime” build perfect illusions, and then shatter them just as suddenly. Mischievous robots, invisible stairs and energetic games of hide and seek crowd the stage. They take universally understood mime tropes and bend them to their will, redefining them and giving the genre new life and energy.
